How often should I visit a dentist?
You should meet with our dentists for a cleaning and exam every six months. When we regularly remove plaque and tartar, your smile will stay strong and healthy. When we regularly examine your mouth, we can catch dental problems while they are small and still easy to treat.
At what age should my children start seeing a dentist?
The general rule of thumb is for a child to see a dentist around their first birthday. You may want to bring your child in earlier if you have any concerns about their oral health.
I feel really nervous about visiting a dentist. What can you do to help?
Anxious patients, young children and those who need extensive dental treatments may struggle when receiving dental care. However, we can help at our dental offices in Katy and Humble, Texas, because we offer sedation dentistry. Sedation makes nervous patients feel calm and comfortable as we improve their oral health.
My gums bleed when I brush my teeth. What does this mean?
Bleeding gums is one of the symptoms of gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease. You can reverse this condition by maintaining excellent oral hygiene and by visiting Advantage Dentists for a dental cleaning.
What should I do if I knock out one of my teeth?
If you knock out a permanent tooth, then you will need to visit our practice immediately so we can save it. But first, you should try to carefully reinsert the tooth back into its socket. Do so by holding the tooth’s crown and making sure it faces the correct direction before gently putting it back into the socket. If you cannot reinsert the tooth, then store it in a cup of milk while waiting to see us for care.
When will my child start to lose their baby teeth?
Children usually start to lose their baby teeth (also known as primary teeth) when they are ages 5 to 7, starting with the front teeth. This process ends when the child is 12 to 13.
When is the best time for wisdom teeth removal?
The teenage and young adult years are the best time for wisdom teeth removal. This is because patients of this age heal more quickly than older adults. Additionally, the wisdom teeth are still forming, which makes their removal easier.
